A Room Tour

Hey everyone, happy Saturday! I've decided to do a slightly different post today- a bedroom tour! Since moving to France, I've got a lot more into customising and interior design with all the car boot sales and brocantes about. Before I had this room, as a kid, I pretty much shared my bedroom with my older sister in a bunk bed- good fun but as you get older, you need your own space to breathe! After that, I had a teeny weeny room back in the Scotland where there was literally a square of floor space in the middle. I made the most of it, it was all pretty in pink & my parents did everything to make it as nice as it could be. After we moved to France, I spent the first few months living out of a suitcase, sleeping in a camp bed followed by a year sharing a double bed with my sister, then finally getting my own bed (but still sharing rooms)... you could probably say I've been through it all! But now, I finally have the bedroom of my dreams, my little cove where I can escape & just chill. I'm a big lover of floral, toile du jour and shabby chic as you'll see from the photos. I've spent the years changing & adding trinkets, things I've found in different places & vintage furniture to give it a unique feel, I hope you enjoy this and maybe get some inspiration for your bedroom from it too.

This is a vintage sofa that I got from an antique store for Christmas, it was around 200 euros, I just fell in love with the pale blue colour and the 'etoile du jour' design is one of my favourites. It's also very practical as it can be wheeled closer to my tv and it can double up as a great mattress for when friends come to stay.
Before these were a dated pine chest of drawers, which me and my mum sanded down, painted white and added some crystal knobs to! Just shows you don't need to go and buy new furniture, just modernise the old stuff!
My chill out area, the leather Indian style 'poof' (I love that word) is from a car boot sale for about 5 euros.

Phew! Sorry that this post was so picture heavy, but I really wanted to get some good shots of my room and decided to go a bit O.t.t. I hope you enjoyed this post and perhaps it gave you some ideas & inspiration for your own bedroom.

The Great Gatsby Fashion

With the release of The Great Gatsby *screams of excitement* just round the corner, I was inspired by the fashion from the 20's. I hunted down the high street for similar pieces for you so you can put together your own Great Gatsby look. I honestly wish I was born back then, the fashion is just so elegant and sexy but not in a completely obvious way. From headdresses, to flapper dresses, gloves & art deco jewellery...I am in love.

I'm currently reading the book and I can't wait for the film to come out! Is anyone else as excited as I am for the film? It looks amazing. Check out the trailer here.

Big Birthday Haul & Update

Hi everyone! I feel like I've been away for ages as it's been like a week since I last posted, I actually kind of miss blogging when I'm not doing it but my week was jam. packed. On the Tuesday it was my 18th Birthday and I had a lovely day filled with lots of gifts, food & champagne! I went out to a lovely Italian restaurant in the evening with my family and friends. The restaurant made a cake especially for me and decorated it in a tropical sort of theme, it was sooo yummy! Luckily, the next few days were bank holidays here in France so I had the rest of the week off work experience! *dances* So, on Wednesday evening I had yet more friends and family round for food, cake and champagne were I got more gifts and went out for my first legal drink (cheeky cheeky).

I got quite a bit of make up which was great as I was needing a stock-up but I will include that in a separate post. On the Friday I went out to spend some money from the car boot sale I did recently & money I got for my birthday. I honestly don't feel much older...but slightly wiser except I'm still not that wise when it comes to spending.

Here are some pictures from my birthday & what I got/bought! Enjoy!

Present from my friend Yvanca, bracelet from Pimkie

This shirt is from H&M, it's such a light, smooth fabric and feels great on, 15 euros well spent

I FINALLY purchased a pair of the Zara look-a-like heeled sandals from Pimkie for 26 euros...I've seen these on Rihanna & I just love them and I've been wanting them for ages. They look so elegant on. I will be definitely wearing them this weekend!

Simple cute red pumps from H&M at 9.95 (euros)

The Alien Vanity collection: I got 15 euros off with a discount so I was so pleased, the box includes a 30ml perfume, face cream, shower gel & body lotion and it just smells so so good. One of my favourite perfumes.

One of my favourite presents is this AMAAAZING polka dot satchel from LYDC London. I am in love with this bag.

My favourite present of all, I officially own a pair of Raybans!

Book about one of my favourite entrepreneurs, Cath Kidston.

Flowers from my dad, aka B.B.J (his nickname, which means big bad john, which is funny, 'cause he isn't bad in the slightest).

Tropical chocolate cake that the restaurant made especially for me!

Yummy food at the Italian restaurant, with my mum in the corner, hey mum!

I hope you enjoyed my post on my birthday and there will be plenty more where that came from!
