The Basic Maxi Dress

In Amsterdam, I purchased a stunning simple grey maxi dress from River Island. It's not something I'd normally go for but I decided to try it on and it was really flattering. It's very versatile and simple so can be put with anything and it's perfect for this summer as it's nice and light and has 2 slits down each side. I paired it with some things from my wardrobe to show how it can be styled...hope you like!

Look 1:

Necklace: also River Island
Belt: Pimkie
Gilet: New Look
Shoes: Converse (bought on Ebay)
Bag: Miss Selfridge

Look 2:

I switched the leather gilet for my denim gilet, which I bought at a car boot for 1 euro! I cut up the sleeves a bit to make it edgier and more frayed.

Look 3:
Wedges: Ebay
Gilet: Jennyfer
 Necklace & Belt: Pimkie

Look 4:

Gilet: Primark
Belt: unknown

Look 5:

Denim shirt: Ebay
Necklace: River Island

Or for a more glam look...

Gilet: H&M
Necklace: 3 euros car boot sale

There you have it...1 dress, 6 different looks. If you have a similar dress or the same and have styled it in a different way feel free to comment or let me know and share your styling tips too.

Current Favourites

These are just a few of my favourite things this month, things I'm lusting after and things I'm just really digging at the moment (is it ok to say that?)...

The Breakfast Club: This movie is pure genius and I love it, it has  such a simple story line but is extremely entertaining, a classic. If you haven't seen it yet, what are you still doing on my blog?! Go and watch it!

(faux) Fur jacket: I need one. That is all.

Sequin leggings: They look fab on a night out and sparkle up a rock chick outfit, a wardrobe essential.(from

Rita Ora: I'm guessing most of you have probably heard of her by now. If not, she's a beautiful singer-songwriter with my favourite songs being RIP, Radioactive & Hot Right now, which really get you in the party mood!

Black 'Bardot' midi dress: It's flattering and the off shoulder look is right on trend. (from

Imagine Dragons: My cousin introduced me to this band and they're pretty awesome, being in rural France, I'm not as up to date as I used to be with music, but I try my best. 'Radioactive' and 'On top of the world' are must listen to tracks.

Doc martens: They're classic, last forever and look great with everything and I need them in my life.

Yellow neon nail polish: Brightens up any outfit on these (still) wintery cold days.

Travel | Iam...sterdam

I just recently got back from the beautiful city of Amsterdam where I had a lovely week long holiday with my cousin. I miss it already but I thought I'd put together a post to share it with you lovely lot and also for me to weep over because I'm now back to reality and not surrounded by canals, bikes and cute Dutch boys anymore...

Here are some photos that I took during the holiday with a few recommendations as well for anyone thinking of visiting the wonderful Dam!

We got free champagne, not bad for a first night out! At Smokey's Nightclub... friendly staff, good music and great on a weekday night out!

The best way to get about the Dam (if you can't find a bike...unlikely) Ok, so not the most pretty photo setting but I like how I look for once (despite those damn braces).

Melkhuis Café in Vondel Park- highly recommend for a relaxing warm drink outdoors looking onto the pond or the cosy indoors after a walk round the park.

In conclusion, I'd definitely recommend a visit to the Dam! It is just the coolest place. The shops, houses and nightclubs ooze cool & are so stylish. Everything's individual, arty and there's always something to see or do there. Amsterdam is such a chilled city as there are less cars & more bikes which means the air doesn't smell polluted either (if you care about that kind of thing). Also, the people are laid back, friendly & stylish. Peaceful canals and hot Dutch boys...what more could you ask for?

Places & things I recommend:

Vondel Park & the café Melkhuis,
Anne Frank House,
Van Gogh Museum,
The Red Light District.

Studio 80,

And so much more! Just check out all the individual shops & cafés they have to offer and go for a wander! You will constantly stumble across something new and amazing in Amsterdam.

My OOTW (outfits of the weekend)

The other day I was choosing some outfits for going out and got a little creative and these outfits have been in my mind and I was thinking that I really wanted to snap this look.

The first one is a bit of a mix of old and new things and great for going out. It does look rather grunge/gothic but that’s the kind of style I’m liking at the moment, or it could be brightened up with some red or pink lips or a bright clutch if you don’t like the whole all over black look. I’m not actually gothic at all, and I don’t like gothic music! I think with fashion you can be whoever you want to be, so I tend to ignore the stereotypes/labels that people may put on me!

Outfit 1:

(Faux) leather gilet: New Look
Stud Belt & Earrings: Pimkie
Skater skirt: Ebay … which cost me next to nothing and looks great!
Dress: ‘Therapy’ at House Of Fraser (which is tucked into the skirt as a top)
Ring: H&M

Outfit 2:

The main item to this look is, the one and only, ‘beetle juice’, striped jeans. I was a bit hesitant at first to buy them, but once I tried them on, I was convinced. They are actually very flattering and elongate your legs. I also grabbed this necklace as it was in the sale & I think goes well with the jeans…and it’s very in at the moment with the whole tribal/Aztec look.

(faux) leather gilet: as before
White t-shirt: H&M
Jeans & Necklace: Pimkie
Black suede wedges: Ebay

I’ve been recently very busy and I’d really like to spend all my spare time on my blog posting, researching and improving…but my teachers say otherwise with tests nearly everyday and homework to hand in. Luckily, from tomorrow, I will be on holiday for two weeks (hurray!). The first week I will be in the beautiful city that is Amsterdam, with my cousin, and yes, I am very excited! The second week, I will make sure to spend time on here!

Anyway, that’s what I'll be wearing these this weekend, what about you? What are your plans this weekend?

Make Up Tutorial | Rockabilly Red Lips

So I decided to post a make up look for my first blog and went to go for a classic red lips rockabilly look. Enjoy!

For this tutorial I used:

  • Coralista’ by Benefit blusher and Benefit ‘Eye Bright’
  • Rimmel (100 Ivory) ‘Lasting Finish’ Foundation
  • 17 ‘va va voom’ mascara in Black
  • BB Nude Magique cream by Loreal
  • Rimmel Matte powder in 001 transparent
  • Bourjois ’Sweet Kiss’ Lipstick in 76 Rouge Fashion, Decleor lip liner in red & Bourjois eye shadow in 93
  • Barry M Liquid Eyeliner, Rimmel black eyeliner, white eyeliner & Grey pencil (for eyebrows)
  • Inc. essentials (Tweezers, Brushes, Lip brush, Eyelash curlers etc.)

Face: I applied ‘Amie’ Moisturiser after washing my face, this moisturiser is great for teenage dry combination skin as it leave skins feeling & looking matte and not oily like most moisturisers, it contains all natural good stuff and no chemicals…and it’s a decent price too. I then applied a light layer of Loreal's BB cream, this I find, can also work as a good primer to lock in the rest of your make up for the day. Afterwards, I put the Rimmel foundation all over for complete coverage. Then, I swept the ‘Coralista’ blusher onto the apples of my cheeks. I always have a Rimmel matte powder as it’s good for covering any shine and to finish off the look.

Eyes: I lined the bottom inner part of my eyes with white eyeliner, it makes your eyes look bigger and stand out more and then I lined the bottom outer part with black eyeliner and smudged it slightly. I then applied the Bourjois eye shadow to the eye sockets and then applied a thin line of liquid eyeliner with a flick at the end…I always start from the inner corner and work my way out…don’t worry if you make a mistake just wet a cotton bud, wipe it off and start again, I’m still learning to perfect it! I curled my eyelashes and applied mascara and applied more to the outer corners to give that fluttering look. I swear by Benefits ‘Eye bright’ pencil which I apply to the brow bone, outer and inner corners of eyes…it does exactly what it says and makes your eyes look brighter (you can also use it to enhance your cupids bow!). I used the tweezers to take away any stray hairs then filled in the eyebrows with a grey eye pencil and combed them with a brush.

Lips: I applied the Decleor lip pencil all the way round then used it to fill in the lips too, this gives more of a matte look rather than shiny lips and used the brush to blend it in. And if you’re going all the way, you can add a little black beauty spot beside the lips for the real rockabilly look and add a headscarf like me.

The finished look!
